Polymerization of proteins with glutaraldehyde. Soluble molecular-weight markers.
نویسنده
چکیده
Glutaraldehyde is well known for its ability to react with proteins and to produce insoluble cross-linked aggregates. In contrast with this situation, conditions are described here which yield covalently linked soluble protein oligomers. The procedure is applicable to a wide range of proteins, and by slight variation in the reaction conditions, soluble polymers in the molecular weight range 3x10(4)-2x10(7) were produced. The products are valuable as molecular-weight markers, e.g. in sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis. The inherent similarities of these oligomers make them superior to commercial molecular-weight protein markers, which may have marked differences in composition and charge.

Polystyrene (PSt) has been known as one of the important polymers with a wide range of applications. Ability to synthesize PSt with different but predictable molecular weights for various applications is very important in the laboratories and industries. In this study, using various simple and inexpensive techniques with only free radical mechanism, it was tried to synthesize PSt with different...
متن کاملIdentification and Purification of BS413 Neurotoxin from Iranian Scorpion (Buthotus Schach) Venom
Introduction: Scorpion venoms contain a variety of peptides, toxic to mammals، insects and crustaceans and are the main factors in scorpion venom toxicity (their amount being 1-3% of total venom). Most of the scorpion toxins have been isolated from the venoms of scorpions in the Buthidae family. The scorpion Buthotus Schach of this family is widely found in the western regions of Iran, but no p...
متن کاملIn vitro polymerization of heparan sulfate backbone by the EXT proteins.
Multiple exosotoses is a dominantly inherited bone disorder caused by defects in EXT1 and EXT2, genes encoding glycosyltransferases involved in heparan sulfate chain elongation. Heparan sulfate polymerization occurs by the alternating addition of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine units to the nonreducing end of the polysaccharide. EXT1 and EXT2 are suggested to be dual glucuronyl/N-acetyl...
متن کاملImmunization of dog with proteins under 30 kDa molecular weight of hydatid cyst fluid and protoscoleces of Echinococcus granulosus
The aim of the present study was to assess the immunogenicity of under 30kDa molecular weight proteins of hydatid cyst fluid and protoscoleces in dogs experimentaly Infected with Echinococcus granulosus. Isolation of under 30 kDa proteins performed using Millipore filter. Six dogs were used in three groups: 2 dogs with under 30 kDa proteins of hydatid cyst fluid (Group I); 2 dogs with proteins ...
